FAQ

  • What payment methods are accepted?
    All common payment methods are accepted. Cash, Check*, Credit Card, Debit Card, PayPal and Venmo *bounced checks are subject to a surcharge
  • I don't have access to a printer, can you print the document for me?"
    Yes. If you know what you need, you can either upload your document(s) when you book your appointment or send them to office@pensacola-mobile-notary.com using "Documents {Your full name}" as subject. The Notary will print your document(s) and bring them to the scheduled appointment.
  • I am not sure what exact document I need notarized, can you help me with it?"
    No. Notaries are not allowed to practice law, therefore a notary is not allowed to suggest what kind of document is needed.
  • Where can I have my document(s) notarized?
    Basically everywhere. All we need is a desk/table. It does not matter if we meet in your house, a hostpital, a retirement home or a public place. However, If you want to meet in a public place it is your responsibility to protect your privacy.
  • Can I already fill out the document(s) before the Notary arrives?
    Yes, but... It is actually recommended to have the document already filled out. However, it is important that you leave the signature line of the principal, the witnesses (if any) and the entire notarial certificate blank. The notarial certificate usually starts with: State of ___________ County of __________ There are exceptions on certain documents. If you are not sure, just wait for the Notary.
  • What payment methods are accepted?
    Credit Cards Due to occurring third party costs on remote online notarizations the signer will always be charged upfront by credit card.
  • Are Remote Online Notarizations legal?
    Yes! We are located in Pensacola, Florida. Florida legalized the electronic notarization of documents on January 1st, 2020.
  • Are Remote Online Notarizations safe?
    Yes. Our electronically notarized documents are tamper proof and fulfill all legal requirements. Every notarization is recorded, and an audit trail is created that saves all the necessary information that would be needed if the document is ever to be legally challenged. The recording and the audit trail are both saved on 2 independent hard drives (using 256-bit AES encryption technology) and stored for 10 years. Social Security Numbers, answers to KBA questions or any uploaded ID's are only used to identify the signer(s) and are not collected or stored.
  • Am I eligible for a Remote Online Notarization?
    Most U.S. Citizens are. In order to provide the service, some legal requirements regarding the identification of the signer(s) and witnesses (if any) apply. Two verifications are required in order to properly verify your identity - Credential Analysis and Knowledge Based Authentication. What does that mean? You must have an acceptable ID and you will also have to answer 5 personal questions that only you should be able to answer. They are generated by a third party provider, using your credit history. In other words, if you do not fulfill the following requirements you will likely not pass the ID Verification process. You must... be a U.S. Citizen have a valid Social Security Number - our system will only ask for the last 4 digits have a valid U.S. Driver's License, a US Passport or a State issued ID - Your ID may be expired if it was issued within the last 5 years. have a credit history - If you do not have credit history in the U.S., the system might not be able to generate 5 questions about your past. At least 5 years of US credit history are recommended have a Smartphone - A cell phone that can take pictures is needed in order to upload upload your ID have an email address - You will receive the notarized documents via email make sure your credit report is not locked - If that is the case, the system won't be able to generate the KBA questions and you can not be identyfied (generating the question will not hit your credit score)
  • What documents can be notarized remotely?
    Pretty much every document beside the exeptions listed below. Since remote online notarizations are new you should always verify with the receiving party if they accept the document to be notarized electronically. We currently do not notarize the following documents: Estate planning documents Wills Court documents Vital records (birth, marriage & death certificates)
  • How does it work?
    You can either have a look at this (3 minute) Video Tutorial that was created by our electronic signature plattform or read the description below: On the day of the appointment a notary will electronically process your documents and you will receive an email containing a link to an encrypted video meeting via Zoom. Please use this link to access the meeting at the time of the appointment. You do not need to download any software and can join via browser. The notarization itself happens in 3 steps: Questions - The notary will ask you a few questions to verify that you are aware of the content of the document(s) and sign on your own free will. Verification - The electronic signature platform will ask you 5 questions that are based on your credit history. After successfully answering those the system will send you a link either via email or via text message. It will direct you to a secure website where you can upload your ID. The notary can guide you through the Verification process if any questions should arise. Notarization - You will create your electronic signature by choosing a font style, signing on the screen, or uploading your actual signature. As soon as your signature is created all you have to do is click the signature lines on the document. Once you are done the notary will take control of the document and finish the notarization. After the document was notarized you will receive it via email.
  • Do I need a software?
    No. Everything you need will be provided by us. You can access the video meeting via your browser. The version of Zoom that we will be using is encrypted and recorded. By law, the audio/video technology that can be used for notarizations must meet specific safety standards.
  • What happens if I lose connection or have a power outage?
    In case you get disconnected you can always get back to the session by simply clicking the link in the email you have received. Please be mindful that you are responsible to have a stable internet connection. If the notarization takes longer than 30 minutes due to technical issues, it might have to be cancelled. IMPORTANT: If you reconnect make sure that you connect to the video meeting first! If you sign the document without the notary witnessing you, the document can not be notarized.
  • Is a remotely notarized document valid in the entire United States?
    We are located in Florida. According to the local laws a Remote Online Notarization is as valid as a wet-ink notarization. States have a longstanding regime of interstate recognition statutes that recognize and accept notarizations from other states. For this reason, an online notary public may legally notarize your documents and you may generally use them in other states as you would a paper-notarized document. However, it is always your responsibility to check with the receiving party if an electronically notarized document is accepted.
